“Every time you turn around there’s the ghost of [golfer] Walter Hagen lurking behind you,” he quipped.

Garfield, who is warming up the crowd for his opening keynote here, did a bit more schtick about taking a ride to Home Depot to get some quality bathroom fixtures (you know, we’re in Kohler, right?), and then shared a particularly humorous anecdote about his reception.

He says he was greeted by a couple of bellboys bearing baskets loaded with chocolate samplers, flowers and “cheese martinis,” upon which he called the front desk and asked why the grand welcome. Their response, “Oh, Mr. Garfield, you’re our very first Jew.”
