CNN has created CNN Films to secure feature-length documentaries to air on CNN and CNN International, alongside theatrical distribution. “Girl Rising,” the first documentary acquired by CNN Films, will air in spring 2013.  The film inspired a global action campaign to promote girls’ education, called 10x10. It tells the stories of several girls from around the world fighting to realize their dreams against impossible odds. The documentary includes voice performances by Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway. CNN Films also plans to screen the documentaries at film festivals and in theaters.
