Barnes & Noble has kicked off a new TV campaign promoting its Nook HD and
Nook HD+ tablets introduced in September. The new TV spot, already posted to the bookseller's YouTube channel, debuts tonight on "The X-Factor," "The Office,"
"Glee," "Scandal" and "The Voice."
It will also air during broadcast of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and the American Music Awards. The "Share" campaign behind the Nook HD models
will include a presence on CNet this fall.
The Nook commercial, developed with Barnes & Noble ad partner Mullen, highlights a new feature that lets people create different individual user
“profiles,” since tablets are often shared devices within a household. The spot shows different family members hiding in the bathtub or backyard doghouse to get time alone with the
Nook.
Competition in the tablet space will heat up this holiday season. Apple is launching a fourth-generation iPad, the iPad mini, while Google is releasing a trio of new or updated Nexus
devices. Microsoft is launching its Windows 8 and Windows RT tablets.
