Deborah Norville, the one-time host of NBC’s “Today” and an anchor on “Inside Edition,” has been named to the Viacom board of directors. The board, chaired by Sumner Redstone, will expand from 11 to 13 members.

Also appointed is Cristiana Falcone Sorrell, wife of WPP chief Martin Sorrell. She is a senior advisor to the chair of the World Economic Forum and has a role with the Inter-American Development Bank.

Norville has anchored “Inside Edition” since 1995. The show is distributed by CBS. She also held various roles with CBS News, following her “Today” role.

Redstone, executive chairman of Viacom, stated that Norville and Falcone Sorrell bring “valuable skills and complementary experience to our current board. Cristiana's experience across global economies and her track record of launching innovative development campaigns, and Deborah's depth of knowledge based on her exceptional career in the media industry will provide important ongoing guidance and perspective.”

The Viacom board also includes Redstone’s daughter Shari, along with Viacom’s top executives Philippe Dauman and Tom Dooley. New England Patriots owner Bob Kraft is also a member.
 
Viacom revenues fell 16% in the October-December 2012 period to $3.3 billion. Net income rose to $470 million from $202 million.
