For Phone Shoppers, Device Comes First

When it comes to mobile phones, consumers think device first, carrier second.

According to new consumer research from Google and Compete, a quarter of consumers purchased a mobile phone as a way to get the latest and greatest device, compared with 9% who did so because they were eligible for an upgrade. In fact, a full third of consumers select their phone first, before deciding on a carrier, according to the research.
