PulsePoint today
announced the appointment of Gareth Shaw as programmatic sales director, Europe. Shaw will oversee the company's new real-time bidding (RTB) platform, as well as lead sales, business development,
strategic partnerships, and the operational side of programmatic at PulsePoint, Sloan Gaon, the company's CEO, told RTM Daily.
Shaw brings with him a high level of intelligence
related to the programmatic space, said Gaon. Prior to joining PulsePoint, Shaw was a senior DR sales specialist at Yahoo. "He built up Yahoo programmatic in Europe," Gaon claimed.
Gaon hopes that Shaw will "connect [PulsePoint] very specifically with the data side of programmatic." He said, "Coming from Exerpian [as well as Yahoo], where he was intimately engaged
with data and interpreting its meaning, [he] can come in and continue to evolve our strategy as it relates to adding data attributes to impressions."
In an earlier statement, Shaw
said, “I am excited to be joining the team at such a pivotal point, and look forward to showcase how programmatic trading can help streamline the buying and selling
process and provide even more value for both advertisers and publishers across Europe.”
Gaon described Shaw as the company's "GM of programmatic," even though he will be
reporting to PulsePoint's true UK general manager, Alex Kuhnel.
