Video Insider Summit programming chair and de facto emcee Cathy Taylor kicked the agenda off this morning at the blustery Montauk Yacht Club with a bit of friends and family bluster, er,
anecdotes that most attendees could relate to: how video consumption has been changing in her own household.
No surprise that both her son and daughter have long preferred
Internet-based gizmos for their video consumption (her son toggles between his laptop, Skype and “some game;” her daughter now prefers an iPad connected to Netflix where she streams old
episodes of “Curious George”). All despite the fact that her family bit the bullet and bought an expensive big flat-screen TV.
But what really surprised Taylor is that
her husband, whom she described as a digital Luddite who still uses a BlackBerry, etc., now streams episodes of “Breaking Bad” on his iPad in bed with his earbuds plugged in.
This is
crazy, even my husband is getting completely transformed here,” Taylor said.
