Adap.tv To Adapt For Singapore, Expands Into Southeast Asia

AOL Networks' Adap.tv has announced it is expanding into Southeast Asia and will open a brand new office in Singapore. Alex Khan has been appointed as managing director and will work from the new Singapore office.

"We view Southeast Asia as a key region in online video, which is seeing the same or greater growth patterns as in emerging markets like Australia and Japan," stated Phil Duffield, SVP international at Adap.tv.

The company cites a recent comScore report saying Southeast Asia's Web audience has grown 10% since 2012, and smartphone and tablet screens have increased 33% in the same span.

Khan was previously chief operating office of Catcha Media Group and also served as CEO of Catcha Digital Asia. He has also headed agency sales at Yahoo UK and Ireland.

The move into Singapore caps off a year in which Adap.tv also opened an office in Tokyo, Japan and a research and development center in Hyderabad, India. The company says it's planning to expand into more global markets in 2014.
