Despite the fact that Apple's policy claims that email attachments are protected on iOS devices through encryption, the latest update has left a hole leaving these documents potentially exposed.
Security research Andreas Kurtz has revealed iOS version 7.0.4 through the current version 7.1.1, does not encrypt attachments at rest. He tested the lapse in security and was able to gain
access to attachments using well-known tools.
