Google Clarifies Right To Be Forgotten

A Google representative confirmed Thursday that the European right to be forgotten will not apply to the Google.com domain or country-specific Google domains outside of Europe, per PC World. The EU court simply applied the current Data Protection Directive to search engines. It all began after the European Court of Justice was asked by Spanish courts to rule on a case involving Costeja Gonzalez, a 58-year-old lawyer who claimed Google directed searches to outdated and irrelevant information about him, a 10-year-old Spanish newspaper notice about a mortgage foreclosure against him.
