Spengler, who came to the company a year ago, was president of content marketing and revenue strategy at iHeartMedia, formerly Clear Channel Communications.
“I enjoyed helping to develop strategy and shaping the marketing power around those assets,” says Spengler, in speaking with Media Daily News about his departure.
Spengler now says among other opportunities, he will work with emerging companies, including IgnitionOne, KillerSpin, Mandalay Digital, and CoCo TV -- all of which he has advisory roles.
“We enjoyed having Tim work with our leadership team to help shape our company’s strategy over the past year,” according to a statement from iHeartMedia.
Spengler was hired by John Hogan, chairman/chief executive officer of Clear Channel Media and Entertainment, in October 2013. In January, Hogan retired. Also at the time, Bob Pittman, CEO of iHeartMedia, was given an extension of his contract for an additional five-year term.
Before coming to Clear Channel, Spengler had been a longtime veteran at media agency Interpublic Group, as CEO of Magna Global, and before that, as president/North America of Initiative, one of IPG’s three worldwide media networks.
Recently iHeartMedia announced the hiring of Gayle Troberman as executive vice president/chief marketing officer of iHeartMedia. She comes from IPG Mediabrands and will report to Pittman.
