YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki says the video giant could throw more weight behind content subscription services. “YouTube right now is ad-supported, which is great because it has enabled us to
scale to a billion users,” Wojcicki said at a conference this week, as reported by Re/Code. “But there’s going to be a point where people don’t want to see the ads.” As
Re/Code notes: “In 2013, YouTube let individual content owners sell subscriptions to their stuff, but it has done little to promote that option since then.”
