Clarification: FilmOn No Longer Uses Antennas To Capture, Transmit Video

The Online Daily News Oct. 30 article DoubleVerify Sued For Telling Clients FilmOn Infringes Copyright said that FilmOn's most recent streaming platform reportedly used antennas to capture and transmit programs.

A FilmOn representative tells Online Media Daily that all programs offered by FilmOn are either licensed or owned by the company or in the public domain. FilmOn no longer uses an antenna system to distribute video content.
FilmOn said in court papers filed last week in U.S. District Court in Illinois (See related OMD story -- FilmOn Argues For Cable License In Battle With Window To The World”  that it “has physical facilities located in the United States where it receives primary transmissions in the form of over-the-air signals transmitted by one or more television broadcast stations,” and that it “then makes secondary transmissions of those signals by wires, cables, or other communications channels to subscribing members of the public who pay for such service.”

FilmOn's lawyer, Ryan Baker, tells OMD that the antenna system described in the litigation “still exists,” but isn't currently in use.
