Iponweb, a UK-based ad tech provider, on Wednesday announced the appointment of Bob Walczak as general manager of BidSwitch, a new position at the company.

Walczak was most recently GM and VP of product at PubMatic, a supply-side platform (SSP). Prior to that, he was PubMatic’s VP of mobile. Before joining PubMatic, Walczak was founder and CEO of Ringleader Digital, an mobile ad serving tech platform.

“The BidSwitch business has grown significantly over the past 12 months and we felt it was the right time to bring a GM on board,” stated Boris Mouzykantskii, CEO of Iponweb.

BidSwitch is similar to an ad exchange in that it sits in between buyers and sellers and allows them to trade with one another via RTB, though Iponweb claims BidSwitch differs because it is “middleware,” whereas other exchanges also often double as SSPs.
