Last year, global data breaches reached 1,500, which was up 50 percent from 2013, according to Gemalto’s Breach Level Index (BLI). The report, which is based on
publically-disclosed incidents, also revealed that 800 million of the one billion pieces of data that were exposed came from U.S. companies. These data breaches included the exposure of personal
consumer data including email addresses, names and even credit cards.
