Americans Lost $2.1 Billion To Social Media Scams In 2025, FTC Reports

American consumers lost $2.1 billion to social media scams in 2025, the Federal Trade Commission reports, according to TechCrunch. Almost 30% of those who lost money said the scams began on social media, particularly Facebook. And over 40% ordered an item they saw in an ad, ranging from clothing and cosmetics to puppies.
