Mobile Driving Majority Of Page Views, But Revenue Not Following Suit

There’s a lot of money being left on the table as the ad industry figures out the best ways to monetize mobile visitors.

On the “Solving For Mobile: The Cross-Screen Data Dilemma” panel at the Publishing Insider Summit in Key Largo, FL, Friday afternoon, a panel full of publishers acknowledged that while the majority of their page views come from mobile devices, the revenue is not following suit.

Jeff Clark, VP of audience and analytics at PostMedia, told the crowd that about 70% of PostMedia’s page views come from mobile devices and the remaining 30% from desktop. But the revenue flow is opposite: only about 30% of PostMedia’s revenue is coming via mobile.

All other panelists -- including execs from SheKnows, Bauer Xcel Media and The Weather Company -- all shared similar sentiments.
