AT&T customer Alfred Valrie sent an email suggestion about the kind of package he'd like to purchase to the company CEO. In response he received a letter from the company's attorney explaining
that they do not entertain "unsolicited offers to adopt, analyze, develop, license or purchase third-party intellectual property". The company explained that it has taken this approach to customer
response in order to avoid any intellectual property lawsuits.
