In the spirit of the holiday, I thought I’d resume my time-honored tradition of covering songs in MediaPost columns. From a Whitney-inspired ode to Siri to an SEO riff on “99 Problems” to threefineeditions of Searchery Rhymes, my catalog has run the gamut.
Now it’s time to make my Social Insider Idol debut — and what better way to do it than by giving thanks to the person that, in one way, shape or form, is responsible for the jobs of everyone subscribing to this column: Mr. Mark Elliot Zuckerberg, aka Zuck.
Beyond building an empire, Zuck has also done his fair share of giving back. He’s bestowed money upon everyone from Planned Parenthood to the Winklevoss twins, so now let us praise you like we should:
Amazing Zuck, how sweet the sound,
New ad formats for me;
Sure, they do cost, but clicks are found,
Some even CPC.
’Twas Zuck that brought on TV
spend,
With reach and frequency;
Facebook videos are the trend,
For increased GRPs.
The Google hath been good to me,
With ads that do convert;
‘Tis Zuck who
did it socially,
Monetizing each flirt.
Breaking past ad blockers and spam,
My customers have come,
Through the News Feed like slaughtered lambs,
To my page one by one.
Devices, they hath all converged,
So Atlas can shine bright;
No cookies here, just data merged,
Deterministic might.
Yea, when the next hot app is sown,
And Facebook
users flee,
Ole Zuck shall buy it for his own,
Nearly monopoly.
When looking back in 10 more years,
With Wi/Fi drones amuck,
Will we still have privacy fears?
Will we
still give a Zuck?
