Autonomous Car Gets Into Accident

San Francisco saw its first traffic accident involving an autonomous car earlier this month. It occurred on the afternoon of Jan. 8 when a Nissan Leaf autonomous vehicle operated by Cruise Automation hit a parked Toyota Prius. The car was in manual control mode at the time, but an account of the incident says it started when the automation computer steered the car incorrectly. "The vehicle began moving in its lane to the left, then began correcting to the right at which point the drive decided the take over manual control," the company said in a report to the California Department of Motor Vehicles. "After taking over manual control, the operator did not change the path of the vehicle and it collided with an unoccupied Toyota Prius."

    THIS IS PROVING MY POINTS PEOPLE.  This "technology" is just wrong on all levels.  How can you yield the power of controlling your vehicle to a computer?  Let's just follow one aspect of this logically.  How do Insurance companies handle this?  Do we blame the car for the accident? Well at the time it was cointrolled by an inanimate computer.  Do they recoup from the car manufacturer , the "server" controlling the car, the driver because he owns it?  What happens if there is a fatality.  WHO GETS SUED.  Does the car get charged with involuntary manslaughter?
    How about blaming the GPS Developer?  What happens if a vehicle is a repeat fender bender  offender, is it taken out of service?  Then the owner says, "You can't take my car".   You can laugh, but all you tech-nuts  are not smart enough to take in account all of the unintended consequences this lunacy brings out.  This is why I'm pretty blunt when I say you people who want and ask for this mess are morons.  I take  the responsibility  of driving seriously, and take in to account the safety of my passengers and drivers around me , and just flat out enjoy driving.  But if keep going with this nonsense, we will now have a new road hazard, the "unmaned" car.
