Microsoft Surpasses $10 Billion Net Income On $35 Billion in Q1 2020 Revenue

Microsoft on Wednesday reported first-quarter 2020 revenue of $35.0 billion with net income of $10.8 billion, up from $30.57 billion in revenue in the year-ago quarter. The company beat pre-COVID-19 expectations based on cloud revenue.

COVID-19 had a “minimal net impact on the total company revenue,” according to the company announcement.

Search advertising revenue, excluding traffic acquisition costs, rose 1% in the first quarter of 2020, compared with first quarter of 2019.

LinkedIn revenue rose 21%, but cloud revenue supported the increase rising 39% to $13.3 billion.

The Personal Computing segment -- Windows, Xbox, Search, and Surface -- reached $11 billion, up 3% for the group.

Windows OEM revenue remained flat, while Windows Commercial products saw an increase of 17% year-over-year.
