Just An Online Minute... Love Lite

  • by February 8, 2005
News flash: 58 percent of single women say they would give up sex for a year for a Valentine's Day date with Brad Pitt.

Aw shucks.

Really?

This bit of trivia comes courtesy of Lavalife.com, the online dating service, which polled singles on their Valentine's Day aspirations. Further, 21 percent of the women surveyed said they would go to work naked to spend the red-hot holiday with Pitt.

Huh?

Who are these women?

Lavalife polled men too. In fact, 53 percent of the single men polled said they would shave off all their hair to get a date with Mrs. Brad Pitt. The Lavalife poll also found that 54 percent of singles say their ideal Valentine's Day gift would be a plasma TV, an iPod shuffle, and the Motorola Razor V3 phone (in that order).

Speaking of love and gadgets, Enpocket, a provider of mobile media services, has teamed up with Match.com, the popular online dating service, to offer a promotion for Match.com Mobile on Sprint PCS Vision phones. The wireless service presumably delivers dating information to singles' Sprint PCS phones.

The Match.com Mobile service lets daters create profiles, upload photos, search profiles, and chat live with prospective dates. It sounds like you can do just about everything you would do on Match.com via computer, by wireless phone. The promotion offers consumers a free, one-month trial to Match.com Mobile and the chance to enter a Valentine's Day sweepstakes. Sprint customers can enter the sweeps via text messaging for the chance to win a grand-prize cruise and other prizes.

Enpocket is getting around these days; it also provides Match.com Mobile to Cingular and Nextel subscribers.
