'Glamour' Partners With Lane Bryant On Special Magazine Issues, Advertising

Glamour and Lane Bryant have announced a massive partnership that spans across four different projects, including sponsored magazine issues, videos and clothing lines.

The partnership features two special editions of Glamour presented by Lane Bryant, a popular women's plus-size clothing retailer. One of the issues is already on newsstands now and the second will come in the fall.

The companies will also produce a three-part video series called "How To Wear Everything You've Been Told Not To," a “Glamour x Lane Bryant” clothing collection that will air in October and “Style By Glamour” in-store vignettes at Lane Bryant retail locations. All of this will also come with various print and digital sponsored editorial and advertising.

Linda Heasley told WWD that when she joined Lane Bryant as CEO, she turned to many publishers to try to increase plus-size content, stressing that roughly two-thirds of U.S. women are “plus-size."

Connie Anne Phillips, publisher and Chief Revenue Officer of Glamour, told WWD that the collaboration is “so necessary” and they will produce content that their readers “craved.”

Former plus-size model Lauren Chan -- now an associate fashion writer at Glamour -- worked with the magazine’s editors to put together a 96-page special issue devoted to plus-size fashion, which went on sale Wednesday at $12.99 a copy.

There will be 115,000 copies on newsstands and 50,000 copies in select Lane Bryant stores, which will be offered as a gift with purchase.

According to Fashionista, Lane Bryant is the only advertiser, with eight ad pages including the back cover. The retailer’s ads will also appear throughout the year in Glamour in print and online.

Plus-size model Ashley Graham is featured on the cover of this special issue. She is also the face of Lane Bryant's newest ad campaign, "#ThisBody," which will appear in Glamour's April and May issues.

Glamour will produce another special issue in September to coincide with a fall clothing collection, “Glamour x Lane Bryant.”

The collection will appear in roughly 75 Lane Bryant stores and online in October with six to eight pieces. Eight to 10 styles will be added each month through to the holidays.

The clothing line was created in consultation with Glamour editors. At Lane Bryant stores, sales associates who worked with magazine editors to choose trendy styles will wear branded buttons on their uniforms that read “Styled By Glamour.”

Additionally, Lane Bryant and Glamour will also produce a branded three-part video series, which features plus-size models Iskra Lawrence, Precious Lee and Georgia Pratt. Those videos can be accessed on video.glamour.com.
