The goal for the Lufthansa’s Apple Watch app is to create a best practice for the airline industry. Not just a simple boarding pass (which they invented), but an app that becomes the industry standard.
Lufthansa sought to put all aspects of one’s travel within reach to give passengers a stress-free experience through all stages of their journey. They identified the Apple watch as a seamless, hands-free way to communicate with the flight monitor to provide highly contextual, real time data.
SapientNitro Germany worked with Lufthansa to create this Apple Watch app, making the viewing of all aspects of one’s flight as easy as glancing at your wrist.
The Lufthansa Apple Watch app assists the passenger throughout the different stages of their journey. Whether before traveling, at the airport, in-flight or at the destination, the app always displays up-to-date information based on the current state of the flight.
The app reminds passengers of all aspects of their flight the day prior to their departure and provides continuous updates. Its countdown feature enables passengers to manage their time to make their flight.
The app was featured in Apple Watch’s launch in Germany.
Since it’s launch in March 2015 the Lufthansa Apple Watch app has been downloaded more than 1,900,000 times.
