MeasureCast, Inc.yesterday announced that new MeasureCast subscriber MUSICMATCH, Inc., a global leader in personalized music software and services, made a
prominent debut appearance in the MeasureCast Internet radio rankings for the week of June 17-23.
MUSICMATCH Radio's Artist Match channel became the top Internet-only station by streaming 171,788
hours of music. The network's Top Hits and Soft Hits stations placed third and tenth respectively in the MeasureCast Top 10 Internet-only Stations chart. MUSICMATCH also finished the week as the
number two Internet radio network (but leading Internet-only radio network) - behind Clear Channel Worldwide - based on the total number of hours streamed.
MeasureCast Internet Radio Index
Rises 6% The MeasureCast Internet Radio Index rose 6% during the week of June 17. The week's peak listening day came on Wednesday, June 19, the day before the Librarian of Congress announced his
final determination of the royalty rate Webcasters must pay copyright owners of sound recordings. Since January 6, the total time spent listening to Web radio stations measured by MeasureCast is up
136 percent. The index is a representation of the trend in TTSL across a spectrum of on-line stations measured by MeasureCast.
MeasureCast Announces Top 10 AM/FM Simulcast Stations Canada,
Britain, the East and West coasts of the United States, and Texas were represented in the first MeasureCast Top 10 Simulcast Radio Stations ranking for the week of June 17 (See chart below).
London-based Virgin Radio took the top spot based on the total number of hours streamed.
Demographic Highlights for the Week of May June 17-23
The peak listening day was Wednesday, June
19, with 19% of all total time spent listening occurring this day. Internet radio listening is primarily a work-hour phenomenon, with 77% of all on-line listening occurring between 5 a.m. Pacific
and 5 p.m. Pacific. 10% of the week's TTSL took place over the weekend. 28% of Internet radio listeners were between the ages of 25 and 34. 56% were younger than 35, 28% were younger than
25, and 6% were older than 55. In the U.S., 32% of listeners resided in the South; 31% lived in the West, 20% were in the Northeast, and 17% tuned in from the Midwest. 69% of listeners were
men; 31% were women. Top streaming nations include the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Japan and Mexico.
