Silk Road Emails May be at the Heart of Microsoft's Email Privacy Battle

Microsoft is embroiled in a legal issue with the U.S. government: The government has ruled that the software giant must turn over the private emails of users, while the company contends that private user data stored on servers in Ireland should not be subject to U.S. jurisdiction. According to a new report, Silk Road, the online e-commerce site that functioned like an eBay for drug dealers, is apparently at the center of the fight. The email account at the heart of the legal case belongs to Gary Davis, an Irish citizen who is currently fighting extradition to the U.S. to face charges for his role as an administrator of Silk Road.
