Two House Republican campaigns have filed Freedom of Information Act requests for lists of email addresses from their legislative offices. This same practice has drawn criticism
in the past. Earlier this month, an elections complaint was filed against a Republican senator for doing the same thing. The emails are built as constituents reach out to lawmakers in
office or sign up for newsletters. They are generally considered public.
