Florida Warns State Residents of Insurance Scam Email

The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (OIR) and the Department of Financial Services (DFS) have warned state residents to beware of an email scam that claims to come from Insurance Commissioner David Altmaier. The spam message says that the recipient's policies have been cancelled. "OIR does not send notices of cancellation and those who receive this email should disregard the information. Consumers should not click on any links contained with the email message, and should immediately delete the email," the group said in a statement.
