Attaching your mobile phone to a Gmail account can put the account at risk if you don't go on to activate multi-step authentication, according to security expert Vijay Pandurangan.
The former Google and Twitter engineer who currently works at Benchmark blogged about how hackers broke into a former colleague's Gmail account using his phone
number. Pandurangan's friend had a strong password, an independent recovery email, challenging security questions and his mobile phone attached to the account but hackers were still
able to break into his phone.
