Quartz has launched two new email newsletters in the last week, one focused on lifestyle and another aimed at Spanish speakers.
Quartzy, a weekly email newsletter
that technically launched last Friday, is focused on culture, fashion, food, travel, art and personal care. It will be led by Jenni Avins, a global lifestyle correspondent at Quartz.
Shinola, a Detroit-based maker of watches, leather goods, bicycles and journals, is the first brand to advertise with Quartzy as part of a cross-channel campaign.

Robins, Quartz's SVP of global revenue and strategy, told Adweek the newsletters are meant to engage current Quartz readers, while also developing the company’s presence in
new verticals. Quartz hired Avins and other writers in 2014 to expand its fashion, food and travel stories.
According to Adweek, Quartz’s newsletters focus
on people in their late 30s: highly educated, well-traveled, have a senior role in their career and roughly more than 3,000 Twitter followers. This demographic makes up a large segment of
Quartz’s readership, based on an annual survey the company conducted last year.

Quartz also launched its first non-English language product, in the form of a
newsletter called La Agenda yesterday. La Agenda is the Spanish-language version of Quartz’s flagship Daily Brief email, which launched four years ago and has
grown to 250,000 daily subscribers.
La Agenda’s content will span “the day’s most important headlines, business news, topics of debate, and
‘surprising discoveries’ from around the globe and major Spanish-speaking regions,” according to the company.
“A significant portion of
Quartz’s traffic and
revenues are already from outside the United States,” stated Jay Lauf, president and publisher. “
La Agenda reflects
Quartz’s first targeted effort at the
Spanish-speaking market for readers and advertisers. ”Since
Quartz’s launch in September 2012, at least 40% of its audience has consistently come from outside the U.S.
Quartz has offices in Hong Kong and London, and Quartz India launched in June 2014, followed by the launch of Quartz Africa in May 2015.
