Data Breaches Spiked in 2016

Data breaches are on the rise. According to Risk Based Security's 2016 Data Breach Trends report, there were 4,149 breaches reported during the year, which exposed more than 4 billion records. This is up from 1 billion exposed in 2013, the highest year the company has tracked in the past.
