FanSidedcofounder Adam Best announced he is stepping down from his roles as CEO and general manager after 10 years at the helm.
The network of sports sites and fan communities
was founded in 2009 and acquired by Time Inc. in 2015.
“Yesterday was my last day at @FanSided. Leading such a wonderful team alongside
@zacharybest for a decade was truly the honor of a lifetime,” he tweeted this morning, referring to his brother and COO of FanSided, Zach Best.
“It was just time for me to move on,
take a break and tackle new challenges outside of digital sports media,” he added.

While his future is unknown he did mention plans to focus on his “2 other dreams: film
& politics.” He does want to serve as an angel investor or adviser for new startups.
FanSided draws on the expertise of local contributors and fans — rather
than national publications or local newspapers — to cover sports news. FanSided has more than 1,500 editorial contributors and reaches 24 million readers, per Best.
He also posted a supportive tweet for aspiring journalists: “My advice for aspiring writers/media pros: Stay at it if this is your dream. Eventually, they'll let you in or you'll make
your own door.”
Last August, FanSided hired former senior
editor of
The Cauldron Jim Cavan to take on the role of
FanSided editor-in-chief.
FanSidedis part of Time Inc.’s Sports Illustrated Group.
