Davler Media Buys 'Metrosource,' Expands New York Holdings

Davler Media Group is tapping into the LGBTQ space with the acquisition of Metrosource, the second-largest LGBTQ publication in the U.S.

The news comes as Davler Media prepares to debut Exuberance, an LGBTQ-focused spinoff of the publisher’s luxury design and lifestyle title New York Spaces.

David L. Miller, CEO of Davler Media Group, states the “27-year strong publication perfectly complements our newest objective: to become the leading multiplatform media brand serving the LGBTQ community and the advertisers that serve them, here in New York and beyond.”

Miller called Metrosource a "powerhouse media platform for national advertisers trying to target the lucrative LGBTQ market. " He says Davler's online reach will help make Metrosource "an equally vital asset for their digital ad buys.”

Metrosource has New York, Los Angeles and national editions. Advertisers include Macy’s and Wells Fargo,  I Love NY and Puerto Rico Tourism for the NYC edition and US Bank, The Sunset Marquis and Aston Hotels for the LA edition.

“At the time of our first issue, everything for the gay community was focused only on the gay ghetto: what was going on at gay bars or outraged political screeds related to gay issues,” stated publisher Rob Davis, who founded Metrosource in 1990.

“By expanding the scope of our coverage to include a wider definition of what is of interest to the gay community, we were able to attract the interest of national advertisers such as luxury cars or upscale travel destinations.”

According to a statement, Metrosource was the first LGBTQ publication that did not feature sexually explicit advertising.

Editor-in-chief Paul Hagen, who has been with the publication since 2002, will continue to oversee Metrosource at Davler. The first issue under Davler ownership will debut June/July 2017.

Davler Media also owns City Guide and NY MetroParents site and its seven regional parenting titles, such as Big Apple Parent and Brooklyn Parent, among other properties.
