
Hearst Ventures, Hearst Corp.’s strategic
investment division, is adding another managing director to its team.
Dave Famolari, who previously served as a director of Verizon’s ventures arm, will work from New York with
another managing director of Hearst Ventures, Darcy Frisch, and focus on U.S.-based investments.
Hearst would not comment on any specific investments going forward. The company did say the
Hearst Ventures team is continuing to expand its reach domestically and internationally.
Its international expansion is overseen by Ken Bronfin, senior managing director and
head of international investments. Hearst Ventures has efforts in Europe, China and Israel.
The division has more than $1 billion in strategic investments in media and technology companies. Some
of its key investments include Pandora, Brightcove, XM Satellite Radio, E Ink, Sling Media, Exodus, Broadcast.com, Hootsuite, IGG, Spartan Race and
BuzzFeed.Since 2013,
Famolari was in charge of overseeing Verizon’s investment portfolio expansion across industries, technologies and market sectors.
