J.D. Wetherspoons, a UK retail chain, will delete its email list and will stop sending newsletters and promotions via email, in response to privacy concerns. “Many companies use email to promote themselves, but we don't want to take this approach – which many consider intrusive,”  chief executive John Hutson said in an email to subscribers.. “Our database of customers’ email addresses, including yours, will be deleted. The company will instead promote offers on its website and on its Twitter and Facebook pages.
