SmartSoft Inc. has added a new feature to its address validation service. The Email Verification REST API validates the deliverability and quality of an email address in at the point of entry, the company says.

The tool can be integrated into cloud-based applications, websites and browser-bsaed CRM systems, the firm adds.

According to SmartSoft, the API provides a quality score, indicating the quality of an email address based on several algorithms. It also determines whether an address is deliverable or undeliverable.

Also flagged are “disposable” email addresses created for single use.

The Email Verification REST API also recognizes function-based or “role” email addresses — those used for activities like support and sales instead of a person.

In addition, the “Did You Mean?” Helper recommends alternative email addresses when it identifies one that has been entered incorrectly.

The API is built on multiple data centers that process millions of email messages per day, the company adds.
