To
mark his 48th birthday and help Wild Turkey thank the folks in its distillery’s hometown, Matthew McConaughey recently helped the famed bourbon brand
hand-deliver turkeys to each home in Lawrenceburg, Ky.
The actor and some 250 volunteers, including master distillers Jimmy and Eddie Russell,
also delivered 580 turkeys to the town’s food pantry — for a total of 4,500 of the birds.
The turkeys, donated by Butterball, were delivered in the first week
of November, in ample time for Thanksgiving.
The participation of McConaughey, who serves as Wild Turkey’s marketing/advertising creative director, was kept
secret from the distillery-worker volunteers until the morning of the giveaway.

Needless to say, residents — including a bride and bridesmaids dressing for a wedding
— were also surprised and delighted to see McConaughey knock on their doors, bearing a fresh turkey. Their reactions were caught in a video (below), posted today on YouTube by Wild Turkey.
Wild Turkey also made a donation of 50,000 Thanksgiving meals to the Share Our Strength, to help families in need across the
country.
The brand is now encouraging fans to participate in its “Friendsgiving to End Hunger” campaign, with Share Our Strength, to help those in
need.
On the program’s site, fans can sign up to make a one-time or ongoing donation, or to host their own local fundraising events for No Kid Hungry. Wild Turkey
will match all gifts up to $5,000.
