Google Gets Celebs To Answer Questions In Selfie-Style Videos In Search

Google is piloting a feature for mobile search in the U.S. that has celebrities answering questions by uploading selfie-style videos.

Priyanka Chopra, Will Ferrell, Tracee Ellis Ross, Gina Rodriguez, Kenan Thompson, Allison Williams, Nick Jonas, Mark Wahlberg, James Franco, Seth MacFarlane, Jonathan Yeo and Dominique Ansel are participating in the trial.

For those wondering whether Seth MacFarlane plays an instrument or how many languages Priyanka Chopra can speak, the self-recorded videos share each celebrity's individual perspective and answers to some frequently asked questions.

The answers will appear in the form of selfie-style videos in their own style and unique personal touch.

Google said the announcement gives those searching for answers a snapshot of what is to come. In the next few months, searchers may see more videos as when searching for favorite personalities.

It's part of a strategy to keep people searching on google.com. The celebs aren't answering questions in real time, but rather prerecorded.

Last week, Google expanded local Q&A to desktop search in Google My Business. The feature lets people searching for answers query merchants who can respond and answer questions from desktop and mobile search or on Android Google Maps.
