Common sense has prevailed and Labour's attempts to resurrect a new enquiry into journalism ethics has been defeated in the House of Commons.
Press Gazette also reports that an attempt to
reinstate Section 40 penalties that would see papers pay both sides' fees in legal cases, even if they won, was dropped after support from Scottish MPs evaporated.
