BuzzFeed is teaming up with Hulu on a documentary about singer R. Kelly and his alleged abuse of young women.

The documentary will be based on BuzzFeed News’ investigative reporting by music journalist Jim DeRogatis. DeRogatis broke the story on Kelly’s alleged sex cult last year. He will provide commentary in the film and serve as a consulting producer, according to Variety.

Deputy national editor Marisa Carroll, who has overseenBuzzFeed News’ coverage on Kelly, will also take part in the film.

The documentary will feature interviews with figures from Kelly’s past, including survivors and the R&B singer’s associates, the publication added.

Kelly has been accused of sexually abusing a number of women and girls in the last two decades. In 2002, he was indicted and later acquitted on multiple counts of child pornography.

Kelly has not been convicted of any crimes related to the allegations.

The BuzzFeed film will be directed by Lyric Cabral, who directed the documentary "(T)error." "Citizenfour" director Laura Poitras, and Charlotte Cook, both cofounders of Field of Vision, the visual journalism arm of The Intercept, will serve as executive producers.

The documentary signals BuzzFeed’s move into television and movies.

Already successful with video production for online platforms, BuzzFeed will debut the Netflix series “Follow This” in July. The weekly series goes behind the scenes of the site’s newsroom.

This fall, BuzzFeed will release a show on the Oxygen channel about the mysterious death of a Mississippi teen Jessica Chambers.

The R. Kelly film for Hulu does not yet have a title or premiere date.
