USA Today Restructures Marketing, Crosses Platforms

In a push to increase the paper's brand recognition across the multiple marketing platforms it publishes on, USA Today Wednesday announced a restructuring of its marketing department.

Four new marketing vice presidents were named: Ed Cassiday for communications and event marketing, Cindy Freed in business marketing, Susan Lavington in the consumer marketing division, and Chris McGill for strategy.

"The core of the business here is with the print product, but with our Web site and as we move into custom publishing, for example, there's now a diversity of platforms," Cassiday told MDN.

As part of the marketing push, USA Today said it will announce a variety of consumer and trade events by early fall 2005.
