Travelers Debuts Campaign All Drivers Should Watch

Just in time for the traffic-heavy holiday season is a timely campaign about distracted driving for Travelers Insurance from TBWA\Chiat\Day NY.

"Unfinished Stories" is an animated film series that imagines what might have been for real victims whose lives were cut short by distracted driving: texting, phoning, etc. while trying to drive.

Here’s a sad statistic: nine people die, and a staggering 1,000 people are hurt every day in the U.S. as a result of distracted driving.

The first film in the new Travelers series is called "The Route," about the life and tragic death (and imagined alternative future) of Philip LaVallee, a college student athlete who was killed by a distracted driver at age 19.

If you watch it, at the very least you’ll think twice about driving while using your phone. Which, of course, is the point.

Now that I think about it, this would be an excellent film to show to driver's ed classes, as opposed to those scare-tactic-y films they showed when I was a kid. You know, the ones that present horrific accidents in graphic detail. One of my classmates vomited on the spot when our school exhibited one such film. Other kids just laughed.

I don't think they'd laugh at this one. It's not over the top and packs emotional punch.

Watch the film here

And drive undistracted. Always.
