Essence Adds Global Chief Client Officer Role

GroupM’s Essence has appointed Kyoko Matsushita Global Chief Client Officer, a new role at the agency. With the appointment she becomes part of the firm’s global leadership team.

Matsushita is currently Essence’s Asia Pacific CEO and will continue to oversee the region during a transition period. She is relocating to San Francisco for the new role.

Matsushita will be responsible for evolving Essence’s global client services practice, overseeing quality of work, boosting organic account growth, and collaborating on new business initiatives.

She joined the agency in 2014 to lead the APAC region. She’s rapidly expanded the shop’s footprint there having opened offices in Tokyo, Seoul, Mumbai, Melbourne, Sydney, Delhi, Jakarta and Bengaluru.

Prior to Essence, Matsushita led client-side marketing teams at companies including Electronic Arts and Sony. She has more than two decades’ experience overseeing media, marketing, business development and operations across EMEA and APAC.
