Are Smart Compose And Predictive Text Eroding Writing Skills?

Gmail users—some, anyway—are letting the service finish or rewrite their sentences with Smart Compose and Smart Reply. Other people are using predictive text on their mobile phones. But there may be consequences like erosion of basic writing skills—for instance, school children who used predictive text made more spelling errors that non-users.
