Rufus Taps Kanagasabapathy For U.S. Strategy Role

Initiative, part of IPG Mediabrands, has appointed strategy executive Kumar Kanagasabapathy to the post of Head of Strategy, Rufus U.S., Initiative’s Amazon-focused operation.

Kanagasabapathy is responsible for providing strategic direction for the agency’s Amazon business in the U.S., which includes Retail + Devices, Prime Video & Amazon Web Services.

Kanagasabathy was most recently senior partner, strategy lead on the Adidas account at GroupM’s MediaCom. Earlier he was vice president, strategy at Horizion Media, where he headed up communications planning efforts for the agency’s entertainment clients, including Disney Channels Worldwide, Freeform, IFC and STX.

The LA-based Rufus U.S. team at Initiative continues to grow, having recently brought on board Sarah Robertson as U.S. president, to whom Kanagasabapathy will report. Other recent additions include Nancy Yip Ramos as head of entertainment, Amazon Prime Video and Anna Prendergast as managing director.
