Verizon Media Creates 2020 Election Coverage Content Hub

Verizon Media has formed a content hub to house coverage of the 2020 election by its Yahoo News, HuffPost, Yahoo Finance and TechCrunch brands

This is the first time Verizon Media has created a central location for its election coverage. "Election 2020" launched today, to coincide with National Voter Registration Day.

“As 2020 shapes up to be one of the most anticipated election years in American history, Verizon Media is committed to helping consumers stay informed on the issues that matter most to them,” Alex Wallace, general manager of news, entertainment and studios at Verizon Media told Publishers Daily.

In August, the media company committed to covering the upcoming election on a variety of different platforms and formats, including live streaming events, candidate trackers, articles, video and podcasts.

Verizon Media's brands will provide live coverage on primary nights, the Democratic and Republican conventions and election night as well, with 5G-powered activations at the conventions, live election-night results maps and dashboards with customized alerts.

Editorial content on the new "Election 2020" hub will include "full-spectrum coverage from Yahoo News, insights on economic policy from Yahoo Finance, news on tech policy from TechCrunch, and HuffPost’s people-first reporting," according to Verizon Media.

“Our 360-approach to issues provides diverse perspectives and bipartisan reporting that will arm people with the knowledge they need to help inform their decision,” Wallace said.

The new "Election 2020" hub also houses a voter registration tool, thanks to a partnership between Verizon Media and TurboVote, part of a larger “Inform Your Vote” initiative leading into 2020.

Site visitors are encouraged to use the registration tool to register to vote, sign up for election reminders or apply for absentee ballots via TurboVote.

Verizon Media will promote the “Election 2020” content hub across its ecosystem of brands.

Today, Yahoo.com, Yahoo News and HuffPost feature homepage banners driving its audiences to the site.

Verizon Media has an activation at Advertising Week New York where consumers can register to vote through the hub.
