Former TD Bank CMO Patrick McLean
has joined Walgreens as senior vice president and CMO, effective Monday.
As CMO, McLean will be responsible for the "vision, strategic direction and performance of all marketing activities,"
according to the drugstore brand.
McLean replaces Alyssa Raine, who became acting CMO in March after her predecessor, Adam Holyk, took on the role of senior vice-president of consumer and
retail services.
Raine remains at Walgreens as divisional vice-president of brand and creative marketing.
At TD Bank, McLean was also executive vice president and head of corporate and
public affairs, and engineered a digital first and data-driven strategy.
Prior to TD Bank, McLean was vice president, digital brand strategy and digital CMO at Capital One Financial
Corporation, as well as the head of interactive marketing and ecommerce at Verizon.
McLean said he's joining Walgreens at "a pivotal moment, when modern marketing can serve as an
architect of end-to-end customer journeys and experiences."
He will report to Vineet Mehra, senior vice president, global CMO, of parent company Walgreens Boots Alliance.
"At WBA, we
are at the intersection of healthcare, beauty and retail, and therefore our content needs to be deeply personal and relevant,” said Mehra, adding, "Patrick McLean shares our vision to approach
marketing through a personalized, customer-obsessed lens."
