As it continues to deepen its commerce experiences, Verizon Media has partnered with eBay as its first brand partner to leverage the media company’s shoppable video formats.
As part of a new holiday campaign — “The Guy’s Guide to Nailing the Holidays” — which aims to help men ace the holiday season, Verizon will publish a series of gift guide videos on Yahoo Lifestyle that highlight eBay products related to style, family, tech, sports and more.
The videos, located within an eBay-sponsored “Holiday Guide for Guys” hub on Yahoo Lifestyle, feature hosts such as tech and gaming expert Brian Tong and reality TV star Tanner Tolbert, combine Verizon Media’s native video player with a shopping carousel filled with products featured in the videos.
Viewers can peruse the products in the carousel and make purchases while watching.
The campaign includes expert-driven articles, such as “The Gifts You Absolutely Need to Buy Early This Year—According to Experts” and “Look Like the Most Thoughtful Dad Ever With These 8 Genius Gifts for Kids,” that address the latest tech and sport gadgets, collectibles and apparel available from eBay and other retailers.
Verizon Media unveiled a new suite of ecommerce capabilities this fall, including shoppable content, interactive videos and images, product guides curated by editors and its Yahoo Shopping hub.
Last month, the company announced a holiday campaign called “30 Days of Savings,” launched in partnership with Walmart. The campaign leveraged Verizon Media’s Yahoo Shopping ecommerce platform to offer visitors a first look at five Walmart products and savings embedded in editorial content during November.
“At Verizon Media, we’re closing the loop between content and commerce to drive deeper value for our consumers and brand partners,” said Iván Markman, Chief Business Officer at Verizon Media. “Consumers increasingly want more engagement with content to learn and discover new things that could improve their lives.”
