Seasonal Late-Night Ratings: 'Late Show' Leads In Total Viewers, 18-49 Viewers

CBS’'s "Late Show with Stephen Colbert" improved its strong position among major late-night TV programming through the first four months of the season -- both in total viewers and in 18-49 adult viewers.

"Late Show" is at a Nielsen-measured 3.59 million viewers -- down 4% from a year ago through Jan. 17, looking at live program-plus-seven days of time-shifted data, and live program-same day time-shifted viewing though the most recent weeks.

NBC’s "Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon" lost more -- down 20% to 2.0 million viewers, just ahead of "ABC’s "Jimmy Kimmel Live." That show is at 1.93 million viewers, slipping 6% from last season.

"Late Show" is also ahead in 18-49 viewers at a Nielsen 0.44 rating/4 share, with "Tonight" at a 0.41/3 and "Kimmel" at a 0.34/3. "Late Show" is down 15% from its year-ago 18-49 numbers and "Tonight" lost more, with 24%; and "Kimmel" giving up 15%.

NBC’s "Late Show with Seth Myers" slipped 10% to 1.3 million viewers at 12:35 a.m. -- still leading all late-night fare at that hour. CBS' "Late Late Show with James Corden" dipped 4% at 1.29 million; and ABC’s half-hour news show, "Nightline" lost 12% to 1.14 million.

For the most recent week ending Jan. 17, late-night cable TV networks shows had Turner’s Adult Swim 11:30 p.m. programming block averaging 640,000 viewers, with the Adult Swim block at 12:30 a.m. at 540,000. Both those shows are the strongest with younger 18-49 viewers -- at a 0.33 rating and 0.29 rating respectively.

Comedy Central’s "Daily Show with Trevor Noah" is at 600,000 total average viewers (at a 0.16 rating in 18-49 viewers) and TBS' "Conan O’Brien" is at 350,000 viewers (0.13 in 18-49 viewers) ; and Comedy Central's "Lights Out with David Spade" at 240,000 viewers (0.09 in 18-49 viewers).
