Are Local Papers Doomed Without Public Support?

The Washington Post’s Margaret Sullivan suggests that communities across the country should more seriously consider funding local newspapers. The proposal comes as the regional news business continue to atrophy, and public support increasingly looks like the only path forward for local publishers.
